dimensional crash

This is a piece I'm doing for Mr. Dunson's Advanced Painting and Drawing Class. In the beginning i wanted to try working with something that I'm not accustomed to, which is clay modeling. Here in the beginning process I made clay models of two of my comic strip characters.

This is the base I painted for my clay figures. If you, the viewer, flip the picture left or right you get different depictions of what it means. With the praying hands up in the sky if you look below you can see and ocean and an evening sun. turn the picture over to where the hands are below and a horizon over a beach. the praying hand become a huge rock with plants an vegetation. Below are some photos of the figure and base process, taking pictures at different angles.

For a canvas i decided to use an old painting i have not completed in two years. The painting at first was of a woman's lower portion of her face. with and emphasis on her lips. For the project I added shattered glass, Even though it is a depiction of a woman's face behind shattered glass you cant help but think there is a deeper meaning to this depiction.
